Admiral Instant Play portable black & white vacuum
tube television set from the 1960s. Model is unknown. Has handle for
easy carrying, has two antennas for UHF and VHF. The instant warm-up
feature, often found on TV's in this era. This feature works by leaving
the picture tube heater filament powered on at reduced voltage when the
power switch is off. The result is there's almost zero warm up time, you
get a picture almost immediately,
though at some cost in electricity, This feature was also bad for the
CRT causing some where on the set even while off, also some known fires
caused by this back then. This feature was discontinued shortly after.
You will need a digital converter to use this set. This is a classic
television set! |
