Lets here what Marantz gear you have?
I have a Marantz 2230b. This is my very first Marantz receiver. It has 30wpc into 8 ohms but is very underated by the factory in power. It could probably do 40wpc.
I have heard many other Marantz receivers like (but not owned):
4400
2500
2385
2285b
2275
2265b
2250
2230b
2230

It's getting underway this weekend, I just ordered solder and a Weller WES51 station. I'll take it slow and easy, make sure I do it right. Be taking lots of pics and drawing up diagrams.

I don't currently own one at this time, Though I will be soon.. We did have one in the family back in the 80s up till 1990, that was similar to this model. Marantz 2252B

It quit working and my aunt bought and Kenwood in replacement that year, which she still has.

2252B--one of Marantz's best. That one will not disappoint. Such a great looker.

I've always liked the silver Marantz receivers.. One of these similar models appeared on the movie Gremlins 1984

WOW! Nice Marantz 2252b! You will not be disappointed with it. It comes from the line with the 2285b, 2385, 2500, and 2600!
The 2500 and 2600 are the rarest of these beasts! Not many were made.

Don't laugh! Just a model 15 dual mono block amp, a model 7T preamp and a model 115 B tuner, all in museum quality shape cosmetically. Pictures are coming soon. We need to start a heading for antique radio idiots!

I thought that's what we were building out in the barn? I'm telling you what, those horses would so much love some Allman brothers, shakin' the rafters. You can just see it in Bailly's eyes! She's a dead head. Hey, did you get that DBX switch console we saw for $50, yet? Mom huh? Ha! that's funny!

I tell you guys what you really need. Get a pair of these Realistic Mach One's. The amount of bass these put out is insane. It makes my 60wpc Kenwood shake the floor, and thats only playing some Air Supply :D The girlfriend says she is not fond of all the bass.

Hey Chris, I did put a Harmon Kardon out in the tack room for awhile, but everytime I played anything by Motzart, Sierra came into season and drove the geldings wild , almost kicked down a stall wall near the final throws of Figaro  :D

Must be a woman thing, because my wife hates bass too, along with diesel exhaust. What the hell...........?

See, now, this is where you went wrong. You gotta play some Santana, Grand Funk Railroad or better yet some Lefty Frizzel or at the very least, some of my favorite.....Buck Owens! Horses really dig that stuff. You gotta play it with a mid level tube amp though with very high quality patch cords. See what happens. Back to the subject at hand though, I am still working on some batteries for the camera guys.

Darn! Wish I'd known that! I had her fixed up with a nice set of Grado headphones that she finally chewed the cord off! I think I might have had them on backwards and she couldn't handle the left/right switch....

Alrighty then, nearly midnight, and I've dry fired my Marantz preamp about 3 dozen times and hooked up my scope to the special scope outputs on the rear. Now my eyes are beginning to turn into dried out raisins, and besides, I've already hit every section in here I think, so......Music in a bottle, on the side.

Guys, this isn't my actual set up, but this guy has all 3 of the same pieces, much to my surprise, and so this is what it looks like...http://cgi.ebay.com/MARANTZ-Model-7T-PreAmplifier-Vintage-EXCELLENT-Cond_W0QQitemZ330372723015QQcmdZViewItemQQptZVinta ge_Electronics_R2?hash=item4cebbfb147 I do have the original wood cabinets and owners and service manuals to my gear. As soon as I get a battery, I'll take photos of my set, but until then, this will convey the mood. What do you think? Be sure to llok at the photo with the stack. Whew! I was thinking about getting rid of my setup before I looked at this shot....

If you click on one of those pictures, you'll see the tone controls operation without the wipers. These are steped controls with the electronics right at the controls!

On the model 15 amp, there are the 2 green lights, one for each of the mono blocks behind the face plate. To each side of the green light, there are 2 red lamps that indicate overload, and actually dissapate excess current thus saving your speakers as well as serving as a visual indication. They start out as a flicker, then get brighter according to the excess current dissipated by Zener diodes. The red lamps, all 4, also serve to adjust the DC offset. On the rear of each mono block, is the control knob, which is rotated until one red light starts to light or flicker, then you rotate the control the other way, until the other red light just starts to flicker. the correct setting without the use of a VTVM would be right between these points! It's a cool American made unit!

Also note the OSC test point and center channel hook up on the rear of the pre amp. This is where I tap my osc in to watch the music on the scope as I listen. The pre and the amp are American made in Woodside NY, while the 115B tuner is made in Japan. Okay guys, what do you think?
