Okay guys, I just turned off the lights and boarded up the windows. This place is dead! Someone better post something here, before the wrecking ball and crew shows up with dynamite in hand.... Guess I'll go hide over at Audiokarma.

Hey MR. Z! I thought they had cut the utilities to the place. What have you been up too?

Remember, it takes time for a new site to gain popularity.
It'll be a few months before the search engines see us.

I'll bump this thread.
I'm not at all pleased with the category structure of AudioKarma...at first glimpse you feel that AK is geared for modern equiptment, while the vintage area is just bundled up into a 'catch-all'.....
We need a true One-Stop-Shop & Trade for our vintage members & followers. That's the whole point of collecting vintage audio- They really do sound better than what's being produced and sold today.
The first time visitors should recognize that this is just for the vintage collector/builder.
Category breakdowns should point collectors easily towards their interest..
Vintage Amp/Receiver Collectors/Supporters-
Fisher Audio-
Kenwood Audio-
Marantz Audio-
Pioneer Audio-
Realistic Audio-
Sansui Audio-
Zenith Audio-
Vintage Speaker Collectors/Supporters

Brand C-
Bose

Vintage Turntable Collectors/Supporters

Brand B-
Brand C-
etc...
Vintage Tape Deck Collectors/Supporters
and so forth...this will streamline the entire board experience and certainly will draw (win over) the more knowledgeable contributors found over at AK.

I agree in content. If you check 'who's on line, everytime you come on, there are a lot of visitors, who I think might stay if there was more going on.
I think we should appeal more to the 'vintage audio crouwd' (and if we need more room, separate the video section into a separate net search).....That would help the video category too.
I would not move towards Name Brand Blocks, as AK did because that creates issolationism and, sometimes, hard feeling of being snubbed or left out. A good example: Audio Karma name categories completely snubbed Technics brand and have ignored any effort to change this.
Being a vintage Technics advocate (as you may notice) I have always been angry at AK because of it. But, I would not be offended about the absence of a Technic Category if they didn't have all the other name brand categories,
There has been a previous post asking to include all of the other 'obscure' categories (like 8 track) into one lump to make room for other areas that are 'vitage popular'.
I really like this forum and truly believe it is doombed as it is at present.
I also don't want to be a complete prude about the term vintage, although I do like the (to me) accurate discriptive boundaries that our boss has laid down.
I had better quit here, Chuck

These boards can have fake plugins that show more users online than really.. I've been to some sites that show around 75 people viewing one category all the time.. I've seen the plugin to... Also tekidaho you think were doomed? I seen the forums are building up with more people since i begun

Well, with all due respect boss, I'm counting at least 10, maybe 14 that joined posted a few times and dissappeared, making an approximate ratio of 4 or 5 to one in the wrong direction:(. I really don't care if you keep Boom Boxes, 8 tracks and Integrated Stereo Receivers forever, because they are easily ignored.
I just hope they, being here don't omit things like DIY categories. I have been hinting on this one (politely), for some time. There are whole forums based on this alone, and every thriving forum has one. In the vintage category, DIY is mandantory, and when a project developes it would be really nice to have this ongoing categorey to submit to and learn from.
Anyway, you're the boss and the bottom line does belong to you....and from me, "nuff said:D Chuck

This site is based on vintage electronics which are mostly stereo receivers, and 8-tracks and some integrated stereo receivers along with vintage video. So we have topics for all formats, well most if i missed any. We also have topics which I don't have up on the site yet, like Speakers and turntables. Due to the lack of space were limited right now. People do collect 8-track recorders so thats why that topic is here. There may be less people who collect 8-track recorders than Receivers and other stuff which is fine, but that topic is there for the people that do.. Forums always have people who sign up and post once or even never post.. I also own another site for collecting ceiling fans and that happens often on there to..

It takes time for all forums to build. It's not something that can happen in weeks or months. With every new topic, brings our site into google and new folks can find it. Thats how AK got so big. It's all based around google. We'll get there, no need to proclaim doom :)
