I sure would love to have one of them some day! I wonder if this one has had its Transformer re-wound?

A common problem with the 2500 and 2600 is that the transformer has such a big load on itself that after so many years of use they just fail and need to be re-wound. It was a design flaw some people say that the transformer was not built to handle all the loads that it needed to run like the fans and pushing out 300wpc!

Now some people say that techs just blame the problem on the transformer and call it that and they don't dig into the receiver to actually find the problem because the 2500 and 2600 is not your average receiver! Its a maze in there! But most of the time the problem is the transformer. Some people say that if you have a 2500 or 2600 that hasn't had its tranny re-wound yet then your really lucky!

I was actually lucky enough to have a neighbor back in mississippi to have a marantz 2500, and let me say OMG! That thing sounds SO GOOD!

I bet that thing does sound good... there was many common problems with electronics, even with vcrs, the same part would fail in certain models

It hasn't even met reserve yet. I'd want better pictures, like proof that the scope and FM stereo work. The MPX chip in the 2500/2600 is unobtainium, probably more so than the transformer. The filter caps are a huge problem too, dual core caps aren't made anymore. And you can't fit 4 caps in the space. Honestly, I'll take a 2330B.

yes, it's looks like the seller is getting kinda greedy there, he'll probably except the last bid once the auction ends if it still hasn't been met or he may even re list it.

Well its at $1255 with 18 bids and the reserve still hasn't been hit.

And it had 2 days left.

Didn't meet reserve at $1450. I wouldn't pay 1450 for this particular 2500, it had some faceplate damage.

I just noticed the bad scratches on the face.

Also if he had it serviced you would think they would have replaced the bad bulb.

Yeah your right. Something was fishy about this auction for sure.

That is a very good point. "Serviced but still has burnt out bulbs? And some cosmetic damage and still wants more than 1400.00? Seems a little crazy to me

Yeah I noticed that too when I was searching marantz on ebay.

$1800 is just to much for this receiver in this condition I have to say. I know others have sold for over $2000, but they were in much better condition.
