I want the KR-9050.. Were in the same boat right now.. I always like the Kenwood designs.. I remember back in 1990 I saw an old KR-9600 or one that was below that model. My mother cleaned houses as a kid and someone left it behind.. I got it home and it turned on but no sound... Looks like lha1992 (http://vintageelectronics.betamaxcollectors.com/forums/member.php?find=lastposter&f=5) gave up on us..

I am a big fan of Kenwood. Having several pieces I got purely with luck helps. I would love to get me one of those monsters for sure. I could handle the 9600 or the next model down the 9400 too. I hear the 9400 is probably the better one due to parts availability. The 9600 has some impossible part. Aww, someday :)

I havent given up on ya'll! I've been really busy lately with stuff. School just started on the 2nd of September and now I'm on the football team and can't go on the computer all that much.

Both of those receivers are great! The KR-9050 is a VERY rare receiver. Hardly any were made. The KR-9600 is also a great receiver, but the only part about it is that it has the unobtanium output power packs.

Their are ways to modify the KR-9600 if you can't find the output power packs. The KR-9050 is the best of them all in terms of fixablity and power. If one of the outputs blow in the KR-9050 all you have to do is just get a replacement (not like with the KR-9600 and its power packs).
But in terms of looks, I like the KR-9600 more.

The KR-9050 is hard to come by. They cost A LOT!

But someday.
