Went to the thrift shop today and saw this beauty... I could not pass it by.. I plugged it in and the lights came on along with the speaker protection, and the meters both moved while tuning.. I'll get back once I test it

Saweet, Adam :) Its raining Technics recievers this week for sure. I have my SA-400 in the garage system. It is the SA-600's little bro. And it cranks much louder than its 45 wpc would indicate. And that 600 is 70wpc, that is great!!

Congrates Adam, you did real good.

Thanks guys.. I tried it and works.. Seems to work better when on one speaker, when I move the balance to the right or left, I get more bass out of one speaker than both..

It more than likely will need to have its switches and pots, ie volume, balance controls, bass, treble etc, cleaned with contact cleaner. Deoxit DN5 will work the best. This can be found at Radio Shack. You can find the big spray cans of Deoxit at Guitar Center as well. Also try to pick up some Faderlube thats also made by Caig. It will be used after the Deoxit bath to help lube the controls for future use. This will require opening up the case and getting to the back of the switches. The Deoxit will have a small "straw" that attaches to the nozzle of the spray can. You will need find the hole or an opening in each pot, so the volume control and so on. Work each pot back and forth like 30 to 40 times. You will be trying to get the contacts free of decades of dirt, dust and corrosion. Try not to spray too much Deoxit of Faberlube on the boards. Its an oil type substance that can insulate the curcuitboards and cause them to retain heat. Its kinda tough to get off too. Dont ask me how I know this:o The cleaning is not real hard to do and will make gear come to life. This is what I will be doing to my new Technics SA-5370. I will post up pictures to show my progress. :)

Adam, I realize you may already know this so this is for members who may not know the process to get the static and falling channels up. Its also the cheapest and easiest part:)

I'm sure that SA-600 will sound great, I'm pretty jealous;)

+1 for above. I have never had a bad component in these vintage jewels, but Technics are noted for dirty or corroded pots/switches. Chuck
