Sanyo Betacord 4670

Hi Guys,

Picked up a used Sanyo Betacord vcr-4670. I ordered and received the kit from Studio Sound Electronics. I installed the new lower idler assembly, upper idler tire and the other belts. The vcr now loads & ejects cassettes. Fast Forward and Rewind work. When I hit play, the tape feeds around the head, the head spins up but it just won't play. After a couple seconds of not playing, it un-loads the tape from the head, yes, then the forward capstan turns to take in the slack. It appears the forward capstan isn't moving in play mode. With a tape in place I can't see if the motor is running or if the idlers are slipping or nada. Is there another sensor or switch that would prevent it from playing if it thinks there isn't a tape in place?

There is a pulley that drives the two idler wheels that has some wear on it. Also, it can be installed upside down. At this time I've tried it both ways because I wasn't paying close enough attention to see which way is up for that part. The pulley has 2 different size drives for the idlers so it should matter which way is up.

Any other suggestions?
